The fundamental assumption of NIOC is that the well-being of vulnerable families and communities across the northern and rural landscape in Canada can be enhanced by efforts and activities that strengthen the capacity of Canadian northern and rural not-for-profit human and social development agencies.
The NIOC strategic framework is built on creating accessible opportunities for knowledge exchange, and is made viable through meaningful and sustainable pan-Canadian partnerships. NIOC aims to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge by focusing on three main pillars of excellence:
- Training & Education
- Partnerships & Communication
- Research & Evaluation
